Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science and Technology(PMIST), popularly known as Periyar Maniammai University is situated at Vallam, Thanjavur, the granary of South India in the state of Tamilnadu. It is celebrating the Silver Jubilee Year, (1988 - 2013) with 25 years of Yeoman Service in the field of education, especially for the underprivileged and women of the rural masses.
