Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science and Technology is committed to
provide secured academic and work environment for girl students and women employees. As per the
guidelines given by UGC regarding the "Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention,
Prohibition & Redressal) Act, 2013", an Internal Complaints Committee has been established in
the year 2008 and continue to work since then.
Objectives
The objectives of the Internal Complaint Committee are as follows:

To create a secure physical and social environment to prevent any act of sexual harassment.

To raise awareness on sexual harassment in the campus.

To uphold the commitment of the Institute to provide an environment free of gender-based
discrimination.
What Constitutes Sexual Harassment
According to "The Sexual Harassment of Women at work place (Prevention,
Prohibition and Redressal Act, 2013" An unwanted conduct with sexual undertones if it occurs or
which is persistent and which demeans, humiliates or creates a hostile and intimidating
environment and any further adverse consequences and includes any one or more the following
unwelcome act or behavior
Internal Complaints Committee has been constituted with the following

Demand or request for sexual favour

Making sexually coloured remarks

Physical contact and advances
-
Showing pornography

The Committee comes into force with immediate effect and will take proper measures
according to the guidelines notified in "The Sexual Harassment of Women at work Place;
Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal Act, 2013"
If any Student/Staff is subjected to any form of sexual harassment can be brought to the
notice of any committee members for necessary action and redressal.
