About the Centre
Education is the most important tool to enhance the socio-economic growth of not only an individual but also of the nation. The higher education institutions in India face numerous challenges in providing skill-centric learning, meeting the requirements of the industry and society in the global platform. To overcome such challenges, our Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science and Technology (PMIST- Deemed to be University) has established Centre for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in collaboration with Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU),Malaysia, IVIEW Sense Private Ltd, Chennai, PMKVY- NSDC SKILL HUB which aims to upgrade the skills of our students and other students also to international standards through significant industry participation and develop necessary skill development course for enhancing the employability of the students. Along with the outstanding academic learning, students in our institution are practically learning with the different skill sets, bridging the gap between the academics and the industrial needs.
Through this centre molding the students with expertise such as life skills, soft skills and to develop their entrepreneurial skills.
Objectives of CHRD
To allow youth through income generating skills and entrepreneurship.
To promote the youth to full participation, on the basis of equivalence with youth in economic chance and education.
To develop and broadcast policies that can be used in analysing the local situation and developing innovative skills at the local level.
To enable the development skills that growth vocational and training opportunities. The values, attitudes and skills, necessary to change behaviour in regard to expected resource management.
To assist economic development, suitable skill up gradation training will be given to the youth.
To offer quality training to instruct self-employment among the youth.
To inspire sustainable development that will create an economic viability for present and future generations.
I. Programmes Organized by CHRD for Teaching Staff
Our Institution was approved by the PMKVY- Skill Hub Program Centre for implementing the Skill India Digital courses. So in this regard we identified our students from the department of Aero Space Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering for enrolled in the following courses. 1. Drone Manufacturing and Assembly -150 candidates & 2. IoT Hardware Analyst – 90 candidates. Total Sanctioned in take strength are 240 nos. The training payout to project implementing agency would be as per PMKVY 4.0 scheme.
