It is my pleasure and honor to welcome you to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at PMIST. Mechanical engineering is one of the most comprehensive professional disciplines employed in a wide range of industries such as power generation, manufacturing, energy, repair and maintenance, automation and control, robotics,etc. Our primary importance is to motivate, inspire, build trust and confidence in students and they are also taught interdisciplinary themes such as environment, civics and entrepreneurship. At this challenging and exciting time, I wish to reach out to all our faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends. PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

Mechanical Engineering is a discipline of engineering that applies the basic principles of physics and material science for analysis, design, manufacturing and maintenance of mechanical systems. The Department was established in the year of 2008 and has grown significantly.

The Department has smart class room facility and CNC Machines Lab sponsored by Bosch-Rexroth India Ltd. It has also received research grants for an amount of 153 lakhs as total grants from various Govt. funding agencies such as DST and MNRE, New Delhi.

The Department is constantly promoting renewable energy activities and the students actively involved in fabrication of renewable energy products. Well qualified and experienced team of faculty specialized in different fields of Mechanical Engineering are committed to provide quality education.

Scope of Mechanical Engineering

  • Mechanical engineers are involved in the design, analysis, testing, manufacturing, control, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems - that is, any system that has a moving part.
  • The major career opportunities for mechanical engineer are Manufacturing, Energy, Robotics and automation, Design and Development, Automobile, Aerospace, Refrigeration, Quality Control, Marine and Metals & Materials.
